A few months ago, we were helping a customer move into one of our units. Like many first-time renters, she had a few questions before unloading the first box.
"What do you do for security?"
It's a question we hear fairly often, and honestly, we're glad people ask.
When someone rents a storage unit, they aren't just storing furniture or moving boxes. They may be storing family photo albums, holiday decorations, tools they've collected over the years, keepsakes from loved ones, or even the contents of an entire home.
Those things matter.
We explained that while we're not a gated facility, security is something we take seriously. Our property is equipped with security cameras, and we make it a point to keep a close eye on what's happening around the facility.
Every new customer also receives a complimentary disc lock when they move in. We believe a quality disc lock is one of the best ways to help protect a storage unit, and we'd rather provide one than have someone purchase a lower-quality lock just because it's convenient.
We also let her know about our Tenant Protection program, which provides another layer of peace of mind should the unexpected happen.
She looked around for a moment, smiled, and said, "I actually feel pretty good about this."
That conversation has stuck with us.
It reminded us that peace of mind doesn't come from one feature alone. It comes from knowing the people behind the business genuinely care about protecting what you've entrusted to them.
No storage facility can honestly promise that nothing will ever happen. That simply wouldn't be realistic. What we can promise is that we'll continue investing in our property, maintaining our security cameras, providing quality disc locks to every new tenant, and responding quickly whenever a customer has a concern.
Security isn't just about cameras or locks.
It's about paying attention.
It's about communicating with customers.
It's about earning trust one conversation at a time.
At Stand Up Storage, we know you're trusting us with belongings that often can't be replaced. That's something we'll never take for granted.
